Basketball Recap: Ardrey Kell Piles Up the Points Against Legion Collegiate Academy

On Monday, everything came up roses for the Ardrey Kell Knights against the Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers as the team secured a 74-47 win. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Brett Freeman, who went 9 of 16 en route to 21 points along with eight assists and seven boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in February of 2024. Matthew Craft was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Freeman wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Ardrey Kell was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Legion Collegiate Academy only racked up 11 assists.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenyn Walker, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Brzozka, who scored six points.

Ardrey Kell's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-18.

Ardrey Kell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-69 win against South Mecklenburg on the 23rd. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, they will be playing at home against Christ School at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Christ School knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 matchups -- so hopefully Legion Collegiate Academy likes a good challenge.
