Antelope extended the longest winning streak in Capital this week by beating Cordova, 41-6. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Rio Americano moved up to 485 from 532 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Raiders were able to make move up by beating Mira Loma 80-34.
Tyler McCombs put up the best numbers through the air as Antelope beat the Lancers. He finished with 10 completions for 247 yards and five touchdowns. McCombs' favorite target this week was Steven Mercado, who caught three passes for 108 yards.
Geno Chiarpotti made the biggest impact on defense this week as Whitney bested El Camino. The 6-foot-0 junior recorded one fumble and grabbed one sack.
Guillermo Salazar was the best wideout in the league this week as Rio Americano beat the Matadors. Salazar tallied six receptions for 118 yards. Zack Suarez helped Rio Americano's passing attack out by catching two balls for 85 yards.
Mark Lyon provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Max Miller's team defeated Mira Loma. He completed 11 passes for 253 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 26 yards.
Sutter Choisser was the most productive running back in Capital this week. He ran for 159 yards on 28 carries as the Wildcats topped Kirk Anderson's team. Teammate Kwane Wilkinson added to the ground attack by rushing for 91 yards.
Rio Americano's Lyon and Suarez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Lyon has thrown for 1401 yards this season, while Suarez, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 24 catches for 528 yards. Choisser from Whitney leads the league in rushing with 1022 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Raiders take on Matt Ray's team. At the moment, Rio Americano is in fourth, while the Titans are in second.
The Raiders took down the Matadors 80-34 last week, the largest margin of any game. Lyon in the win.
