Basketball Recap: Prairie View Comes Up Short

Prairie View extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were dealt an 85-49 loss at the hands of the Fairview Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-52 last Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Prairie View lost, don't look at Kehinde Ojowa. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points and five rebounds. Alexander Holman also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

As for Fairview, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 73.3 points this season.

Fairview found their leader in sophomore Gus Van Matre, who shot 57% from the field en route to 21 points. The matchup was Van Matre's third in a row with at least 16 points. Trevor Ochs was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Prairie View didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-59 win against Boulder on the 12th. As for Fairview, they have also already played their next game, a 67-51 defeat against Horizon on the 12th.
