Softball Recap: Adena Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Adena dropped their record down to 14-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They fell 7-2 to the Westfall Mustangs. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Mustangs since on Friday.

Marly Halcomb made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Adriana Guarnieri was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Westfall, the victory got them back to even at 11-11. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly five runs.

On Westfall's side, Adrina Hicks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. Hicks has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kenzie Cook, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gabby Henry, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Adena will take on River Valley in a tournament on Tuesday. Westfall does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
