Basketball Recap: Meridian Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

While Meridian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Cedarcrest Red Wolves 42-20 on Saturday. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Red Wolves are ranked 192nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win (which was Meridian's third in a row) raised their record to 5-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.7 points per game. As for Cedarcrest, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Meridian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-35 victory against Sultan on the 26th. Cedarcrest and Edmonds-Woodway will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on December 30th.
