Softball Recap: Portland Christian's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Portland Christian hadn't done well against Whitefield Academy recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Eagles came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 9-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Eva Hidrogo spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bailey Atcher, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Andi Beyerle also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Portland Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Whitefield Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portland Christian will welcome Fern Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Whitefield Academy, they will square off against Brown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
