Softball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mallard Creek last Friday, Independence came back down to earth. The Patriots fell just short of the Butler Bulldogs by a score of 6-5 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in March.

Independence saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Maultsby, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Alexis Agurs was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Butler, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Independence didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 17-2 victory against Mallard Creek on the 28th. As for Butler, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 20-0 win against West Charlotte on the 28th.
