Softball Recap: Selma Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Selma and Reedley meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Bears fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 3-1. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly two runs.

Selma has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11-1 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Reedley, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Selma will head out to square off against Kerman at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Reedley, they will square off against Exeter at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
