Soccer Game Preview: Jackson vs. Southwest

The Jackson Generals will head out on the road to face off against the Southwest Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jackson has three straight victories, Southwest has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Jackson's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Booker T. Washington out 1-0. Given the Generals' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Southwest after they claimed the first goal on Thursday, however, they wouldn't score again. They lost 4-1 to Coral Park. The game was a close 1-0 at the break, but unfortunately for the Eagles it sure didn't stay that way.

Jackson pushed their record up to 8-0-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those five contests. As for Southwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
