Softball Game Preview: Boise Brave vs. Capital Golden Eagles

The Boise Brave will challenge the Capital Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Boise's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.

If Boise beats Capital with 15 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Brave put the hurt on Caldwell with a sharp 15-5 win on Saturday. The Brave might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Lily Binford was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Hopstad, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Binford wasn't the only one making solid contact: Boise kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Brave are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Capital came up short against Kuna on Friday and fell 7-4.

McKenna Chavez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Audrey McKibben, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Boise's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Capital, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.

Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Boise has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .476. However, it's not like Capital struggles in that department as they've averaged .495. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Boise's way against Capital when the teams last played back in March, as Boise made off with an 11-1 win. Do the Brave have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
