Volleyball Game Preview: St. Joseph's Catholic Knights vs. Powdersville Patriots

The St. Joseph's Catholic Knights will head out to take on the Powdersville Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Thursday, St. Joseph's Catholic made easy work of Palmetto and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won four in a row.

While St. Joseph's Catholic won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-23, 25-10.

St. Joseph's Catholic's success was spearheaded by the efforts of ALICIA HANLEY, who had eight digs and three aces, and EMI REESE HAND, who had four digs and three aces. That's the most aces HAND has posted over her last 20 matches. EMILY CLARK also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: St. Joseph's Catholic was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. They are 7-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Meanwhile, Powdersville got the win against Carolina Academy on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Powdersville took every set by at least 23 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-1, 25-2, 25-0.

St. Joseph's Catholic's record now sits at 18-14. As for Powdersville, their record is now 16-7.

St. Joseph's Catholic came up short against Powdersville when the teams last played on Saturday, falling 2-0. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
