Basketball Recap: Freer Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

Freer came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to the Santa Maria Cougars for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-29 victory. The Buckaroos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season.

Freer got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alisha Washington out in front who posted nine points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Butler, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points and four steals.

Freer was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Freer's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.8 points. As for Santa Maria, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Coincidentally, Freer and Santa Maria will both be playing Ben Bolt the next time they take the court. Freer will head out to face Ben Bolt at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, while Santa Maria will host them at 11:00 a.m. on January 3, 2025.
