Baseball Game Preview: Bay Tornadoes vs. Leon Lions

The Bay Tornadoes will head out on the road to face off against the Leon Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Bay is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering North Bay Haven Academy just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Buccaneers by a score of 2-1.

Bay saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eliott Richter, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Leon hadn't beaten North Florida Christian on the road since March 24, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Lions walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Eagles. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since February 28, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Connor Borges was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Leon pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bay, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

Bay couldn't quite finish off Leon in their previous matchup back in March of 2018 and fell 8-6. Can the Tornadoes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
