Baseball Game Preview: Monticello Panthers vs. Goshen Central Gladiators

Monticello hasn't had much luck against Goshen Central recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Gladiators at 4:15 p.m. Monticello has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monticello is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Sunday. They came up short against Sullivan West, falling 14-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Goshen Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Minisink Valley by a score of 4-1 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Gladiators as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Stephen Kovacs was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-3. As for Monticello, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Monticello might still be hurting after the 18-1 defeat they got from Goshen Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
