Basketball Game Preview: Grove City Eagles vs. Mercer Mustangs

The Grove City Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Mercer Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Grove City will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Grove City was able to grind out a solid victory over Sharon, taking the game 58-47. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Tigers are ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mercer has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost 69-48 to Farrell on Tuesday.

Grove City's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. As for Mercer, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-3.

Grove City took their victory against Mercer when the teams last played back in December of 2016 by a conclusive 57-34. In that matchup, Grove City amassed a halftime lead of 34-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
