Basketball Recap: Mattawan Comes Up Short

Mattawan lost against Lakeview back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mattawan Wildcats received a blow as they fell 46-30 to the Lakeview Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 519th, while the Spartans are ranked 192nd).

This is the second loss in a row for Mattawan and nudges their season record down to 3-13. As for Lakeview, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mattawan will welcome St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Joseph will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Mattawan surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lakeview, they will take on Portage Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Lakeview's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Portage Central has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
