Preview: Screven County Gamecocks vs. Claxton Tigers

The Screven County Gamecocks will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Claxton Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Screven County stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Jefferson County 64-32 at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-13.

Screven County relied on the efforts of Alailah Scott, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals, and Jaliah Roberts, who scored 21 points along with seven steals. Scott has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Olivia Jackson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Claxton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 55-41 win over Memorial Day. The victory was some much needed relief for Claxton as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Claxton found their leader in underclassman Jayda Jordan, who scored 29 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Jordan has scored at least a third of Claxton's points. Another player making a difference was Zarriana Ortaviyah harden, who scored 12 points.

Screven County has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Claxton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-19.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Screven County hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57 points per game. It's a different story for Claxton, though, as they've been averaging only 37.8 points per game. The only thing between Screven County and another offensive beatdown is Claxton. Will they be able to keep them contained?

Everything came up roses for Screven County against Claxton in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 69-29 victory. Will Screven County repeat their success, or does Claxton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
