The Columbia Coyotes will head out on the road to challenge the Dayton Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Columbia made easy work of Tri-Cities Prep and carried off a 17-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Coyotes.
Makena Kranz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

Dayton let Alexa Jones and Lila Hutchens run wild. Jones went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Hutchens went 4-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Brooklyn Laughery also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Columbia now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Dayton, their record is now 9-5.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Columbia has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .484. However, it's not like Dayton struggles in that department as they've averaged .582. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Columbia suffered a grim 21-5 defeat to Dayton in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. Can the Coyotes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
