Baseball Game Preview: Herculaneum Black Cats vs. Potosi Trojans

Herculaneum is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will be playing at home against the Potosi Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Herculaneum has now lost seven straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since May 1.

Herculaneum came up short against Winfield on Saturday, falling 9-2.

Meanwhile, Potosi got the win against Cuba on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Trojans' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Liam DeGonia looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Edward Sansegraw and Brayden Blair did most of the damage at the plate: Sansegraw went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI, while Blair went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Revelle, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Potosi was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cuba only posted a batting average of .105.

Herculaneum's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Potosi, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
