Basketball Game Preview: American History Eagles vs. West Caldwell Tech Eagles

We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. American History is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season.

American History came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were outmatched by East Side and fell 87-42. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now lost five in a row.

Loss or not, American History got some senior leadership from Ihjamir Williams and Ah'Mad Woodard. Williams posted eight points along with seven rebounds and five blocks, while Woodard scored 15 points. Williams has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 23 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmad Davis, who earned four points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, West Caldwell Tech didn't have quite enough to beat Shabazz on Tuesday and fell 59-56.

West Caldwell Tech has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points over those games. American History's defeat dropped their record down to 19-8.

American History was able to grind out a solid victory over West Caldwell Tech in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, winning 70-57. Will American History repeat their success, or does West Caldwell Tech have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
