Softball Game Preview: Ladysmith Lumberjacks vs. Cameron Comets

The Ladysmith Lumberjacks will square off against the Cameron Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Ladysmith comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Ashland hit Ladysmith with a four-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lumberjacks came up short against the Oredockers, falling 8-2.

Veronica P was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lizzy O also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Cameron made easy work of Unity on Thursday and carried off an 11-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cameron pushed their record up to 12-5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Ladysmith, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
