Softball Recap: Princeton Wins Going Away Against Newman Central Catholic

Princeton won the last time they faced Newman Central Catholic and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tigers put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 8-2 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Avah Oertel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellie Harp, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Kelsea Klingenberg was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Princeton's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Newman Central Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.
