Softball Recap: Ellsworth Continues Home Dominance on Monday

While Ellsworth's victory against Zumbrota-Mazeppa wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Cougars on Monday. The six-run effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Delaney Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Huppert, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Ellsworth hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Ellsworth's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Ellsworth didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 20-8 victory against St. Croix Central on the 15th. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, they have also already played their next contest, a 13-6 defeat against Byron on the 15th.
