Volleyball Game Preview: Brennan Bears vs. Southwest Dragons

Brennan has gone a perfect 3-0 against Southwest recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bears will take on the Dragons at 9:00 a.m. Brennan will be strutting in after a win while Southwest will be coming in after a loss.

Brennan had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past Smithson Valley 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since September 27, 2024.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (108-100) Brennan actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-23, 25-23, 11-25, 15-11.

Meanwhile, Southwest unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to Boerne-Champion on Tuesday. The Dragons have struggled against the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Southwest took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-20, 26-24.

Brennan came out on top in a nail-biter against Southwest in their previous meeting back in August of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
