Recap: Sulphur Bluff Bears vs. Bloomburg Wildcats

The Sulphur Bluff Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bloomburg. The result was a vexing reminder to Sulphur Bluff of the 49-22 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture last Saturday.

Despite the loss, Sulphur Bluff still got an impressive performance from Emma Neal, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Neal is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

Even though they lost, Sulphur Bluff were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of 11 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Sulphur Bluff has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Bloomburg, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-7.

Sulphur Bluff will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Avinger at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Bloomburg will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ore City at 12:00 p.m. on December 29th.
