Baseball Recap: Providence Takes a Loss

Providence pushed their score to one the last time they played Valley Christian, but on Thursday they couldn't quite do it again. Providence fell just short of Valley Christian by a score of 1-0. The Pioneers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Providence got a good showing from Cade Mackenzie, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mackenzie has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Providence saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Contreras, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Providence now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Valley Christian, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7.

Providence didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 1-0 defeat against Diamond Ranch on the 27th. As for Valley Christian, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-0 win against Miller on the 25th.
