Baseball Recap: Holmdel Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Holmdel gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against the Long Branch Green Wave as they made off with a 14-4 win. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Green Wave recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Nick Rakoski was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Raum Desai also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Holmdel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Long Branch only posted a batting average of .222.

Holmdel pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Long Branch, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holmdel will welcome Freehold Boro at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets are facing the Colonials at the right time seeing as the Colonials are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Long Branch, they will be playing at home against Keansburg at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
