The Millikan Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Millikan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Long Beach Poly will be up against a hot Millikan squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Rams came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against Woodrow Wilson. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted against the Bruins since March 23, 2022.
Daunte Bell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Xavier Kennard was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. AJ Nonato was another key player, getting three hits from his three at bats.
Meanwhile, Long Beach Poly was able to grind out a solid victory over Cabrillo on Friday, taking the game 8-5.
Like Millikan, Long Beach Poly also got a great game from a two-way player: Will Trunnelle. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Trunnelle was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tate Hammond, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Neil Morris, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Long Beach Poly kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cabrillo only managed seven.
Millikan's record now sits at 17-6. As for Long Beach Poly, their record is now 15-9.
Millikan got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March against Long Beach Poly by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
