Football Recap: Newton Starts off Right with Win over Civic Memorial + How To Watch

Newton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took down Civic Memorial 35-21.

Civic Memorial's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Clouser, who threw for 136 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 85 yards on only 12 carries. Another back making a difference was Evan Spurgeon, who rushed for 79 yards and one score.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newton will challenge Wesclin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Civic Memorial, they will face off against East Alton-Wood River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
