The Bowie Bulldogs will face off against the Dripping Springs Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bowie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Dripping Springs will be up against a hot Bowie squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Bowie was the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Del Valle on Tuesday.
Kate Bookidis spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Bowie let Bella Nungaray and CiCi Alvidrez run wild. Nungaray went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Alvidrez scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most hits Nungaray has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Lillie Gideon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Dripping Springs won against Abilene on Saturday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Dripping Springs walked away with a 7-3 victory over Austin. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Maroons: they've now won three in a row.
The team relied heavily on Taylor Crain, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Tatum Green was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4.
Bowie pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dripping Springs, their win bumped their record up to 10-3-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bowie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Dripping Springs struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bowie came up short against Dripping Springs in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 7-4. Can Bowie avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
