Baseball Recap: Marina Drops Highest Score of Season Against Soledad

Marina had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-12 to make it nine. They came up short against the Soledad Aztecs, falling 19-2. On the bright side, the two- run performance marked the Mariners' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Marina saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaleb True, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Those runs were True's first of the season.

As for Soledad, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-12 record. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season.

On Soledad's side, Anthony Medina made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Medina a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vidal Perez, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Valenzuela Jr, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Marina will face off against Pajaro Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mariners are facing the Grizzlies at the right time seeing as the Grizzlies are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Soledad, they will square off against Hollister at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Haybalers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Aztecs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
