Basketball Recap: Cherokee Triumphs

Cherokee lost to Smoky Mountain last Tuesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Cherokee Braves strolled past the Smoky Mountain Mustangs with points to spare, taking the game 85-69.

When it comes to explaining why Smoky Mountain lost, don't look at Custer Prenger. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 30 points and 12 boards. Prenger's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ben Brown was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Cherokee's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Smoky Mountain, they moved to 3-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Cherokee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 77-30 win against Blue Ridge Early College on the 10th. As for Smoky Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 77-71 victory against Robbinsville on the 9th.
