Taft lost against El Camino Real back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Taft Toreadors lost 37-12 to the El Camino Real Royals. The Toreadors haven't had much luck with the Royals recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Taft lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nathan Swinson, who threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt.

Even if they lost, Taft's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was AJ Simms with two.

A big part of El Camino Real's win came down to the chemistry between Arturo Acevedo and his top target Jayden Williams. Acevedo threw for 202 yards and five touchdowns on only 13 passes while Williams picked up 130 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Williams' longest reception was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. El Camino Real also got a significant boost from Adryon Walker, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 90 yards.

Taft's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for El Camino Real, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4.

Taft will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Granada Hills Charter at 7:00 p.m. Taft is facing Granada Hills Charter at the right time seeing as Granada Hills Charter is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for El Camino Real, they will face off against Birmingham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Camino Real will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
