Basketball Recap: Fairbury Jeffs vs. Sutton Mustangs

Fairbury lost against Sutton back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Fairbury Jeffs received a blow as they fell 48-31 to the Sutton Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Jeffs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while the Mustangs are ranked 47th).

Despite the defeat, Fairbury saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jerik Mans posted seven points. The dominant performance gave Mans a new career-high in points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sutton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Harrison Herndon, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 11 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Huxoll, who earned nine points.

Fairbury has already played their next contest, a 52-42 victory against Palmyra on the 11th. As for Sutton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-40 win against Wilber-Clatonia on the 11th.
