Volleyball Recap: Appleton East Comes Up Short

Appleton East lost against Neenah last Thursday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Patriots took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockets.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Neenah scored at least 19 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-19.

Leading Neenah to victory were Finley Kelley and Ella Lindgren. Kelley had 12 assists and seven aces, while Lindgren had nine digs and one assist. Those seven aces gave Kelley a new career-high.

Appleton East has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season. As for Neenah, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-12.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Appleton East will challenge rival Appleton North at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Neenah is set to face off against their familiar foe Kimberly at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
