Basketball Recap: Liberty Red Devils vs. Chesnee Eagles
After flying high against the Greenville Tech Charter Warriors last Tuesday, the Liberty Red Devils came back down to earth. Liberty was outmatched by the Eagles at home and fell 80-51. Liberty has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their game on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kendall Jackson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Jackson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Owen, who scored 13 points.
Chesnee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Wease, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brady Poole, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds.
Liberty has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Chesnee, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will square off against the Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chesnee, they will head out on the road to take on the Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
