Softball Recap: West Babylon Continues Road Dominance on Friday

West Babylon let West Islip stack five runs on them in the sixth inning on Friday but luckily West Babylon prevailed anyway. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions, sneaking past 9-8. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-2 back in April.

Storm Romano and Sarah Caltabiano did most of the damage at the plate: Romano went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Caltabiano went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that Romano has hit this season. Daniella Nocera was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

West Babylon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

West Babylon's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for West Islip, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
