Softball Recap: Ballard Drops Season-High Score on Lincoln

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ballard). They came out on top against the Lincoln Lynx by a score of 19-14 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Beavers in their matchups with the Lynx: they've now won six in a row.

The team relied heavily on Wren Wald, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and five RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katie Davis, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Ballard hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matchups.

Ballard pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ballard will square off against Jackson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Timberwolves will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Beavers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lincoln, they will face off against Cleveland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.25 runs per game on average), something the Lynx will no doubt try to take advantage of.
