Basketball Recap: Marion Takes a Loss

Marion played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 76-40 loss at the hands of the Huntington North Vikings. The defeat continues a trend for the Giants in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the loss, Marion saw an underclassman step up: freshman Nyomi Hahn went 8 for 15 on her way to 22 points and eight rebounds. Hahn's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Jaylee Townsend was another key player, putting up eight points and nine rebounds.

Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Huntington North, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marion will venture away from home to take on New Haven at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marion is facing New Haven at the right time seeing as New Haven is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Huntington North, they will head out to face off against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Huntington North has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
