Softball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Oak Grove's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

Oak Grove won the last time they faced Pleasant Grove and things went their way on Monday too. The Tigers blew past the Spartans 23-5. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Rowan Wilson was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kami Smith, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Oak Grove is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak Grove will venture away from home to challenge Hueytown at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Gophers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pleasant Grove, they will head out on the road to square off against Oakman at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.61 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
