Basketball Recap: Josiah Thomas Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mcmichael

There's no place like home for Morehead, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They secured a 52-48 W over the McMichael Phoenix on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Morehead's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Thomas, who posted 21 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Thomas has posted since back in November of 2024. Cavin Corum was another key player, putting up 14 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Morehead pushed their record up to 7-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for McMichael, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Morehead Panthers challenge the West Stokes Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in West Stokes' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for McMichael, they will take on Reidsville at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Reidsville will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something McMichael surely won't give up without a fight.
