Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for the Vanguard School

If Manitou Springs wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played The Vanguard School, they should've done a better job of containing Jordyn Christensen. The Vanguard School Coursers were the clear victor by a 62-41 margin over the Manitou Springs Mustangs on Monday thanks in part to Christensen, who went 9-for-10 on her way to 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Blanchard, who posted nine points in addition to eight assists and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 17 games she's played.

Manitou Springs lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nolan Barrett, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 14 points along with seven steals and six boards. That was a full 34.1% of Manitou Springs' points, marking the third time in a row Barrett has earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lexi Sobral, who put up ten points and eight rebounds.

The victory (which was The Vanguard School's third in a row) raised their record to 8-10. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Manitou Springs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.

The Vanguard School didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-11 win against Woodland Park on the 25th. As for Manitou Springs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-28 loss against The Vanguard School on the 28th.
