Baseball Recap: Marmaduke Takes a Loss

Marmaduke couldn't beat Corning on Monday even though they stacked six runs on them in the second inning. The Greyhounds came up short against the Bobcats, falling 22-6. If the Greyhounds were looking for revenge after losing 14-4 to the Bobcats when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Colton McDougle made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Casen Hendrix also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Marmaduke's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Corning, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marmaduke will welcome East Poinsett County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Greyhounds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Corning, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Buffalo Island Central at 4:30 p.m.
