Soccer Game Preview: Poquoson vs. Randolph-Henry

The Poquoson Islanders will head out on the road to square off against the Randolph-Henry Statesmen on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Poquoson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Windsor an 8-0 shutout. Considering Poquoson's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Randolph-Henry entered their tilt with Nottoway on Wednesday with 12 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 13. They blew past the Cougars 5-1. Considering Randolph-Henry have won nine contests by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Nottoway with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Charlie Critzer (2), Jamie Perez, Angel Perez, and Bryce Daniels.

Randolph-Henry pushed their record up to 14-1-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 37 goals over those seven matches. As for Poquoson, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10-2.
