Baseball Game Preview: Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes vs. Eastside Eagles

The Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes will head out on the road to square off against the Eastside Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Monroe Area is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against White County on Tuesday. They fell 4-0 to the Warriors. The Purple Hurricanes have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Monroe Area got a good showing from Chase Conner, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Monroe Area saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Vandiver, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Eastside ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against Stockbridge by a score of 11-8. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shutout in their previous match.

The team relied heavily on Chase Jordan, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Amond Sands was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Eastside picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Monroe Area, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
