Recap: Oakwood Academy Mustangs vs. Sparkman Senators
The Oakwood Academy Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 58 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 79-58 walloping at the hands of Sparkman. Oakwood Academy lost against Sparkman in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 65-50 score last time.
Despite the loss, Oakwood Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jadon Williams dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Williams hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of William Lee, who scored 12 points.
Oakwood Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Sparkman, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakwood Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Valley Head at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Valley Head is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Sparkman, they will head out on the road to face off against Huntsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Huntsville is coming into the match hot, having won their last 18 games.
