Baseball Game Preview: La Salle Institute Cadets vs. Guilderland Flying Dutchmen

The La Salle Institute Cadets will square off against the Guilderland Flying Dutchmen at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Guilderland took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on La Salle Institute, who comes in off a win.

La Salle Institute's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Troy 10-0. Considering the Cadets have won three matches by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Guilderland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 5-1 to Christian Brothers Academy.

Guilderland got a good showing from Jayden Henderson, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Henderson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Guilderland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Roddy, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Guilderland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for La Salle Institute, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

La Salle Institute took their victory against Guilderland in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1 score. Do the Cadets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Flying Dutchmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
