Football Game Preview: Spruce Mountain Phoenix vs. Dexter Tigers

The Spruce Mountain Phoenix will head out on the road to take on the Dexter Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Spruce Mountain is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Spruce Mountain is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Stearns, who was ranked fifth at the time (Spruce Mountain was ranked fourth). The Phoenix snuck past the Minutemen with a 28-24 win on Saturday. Those 28 points were actually the fewest the Phoenix have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Spruce Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin Armandi, who rushed for 67 yards and a pair of TDs. Dylan Jewett was another key player, rushing for 111 yards and two scores.

Meanwhile, Dexter won against Bucksport two weeks ago with 50 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Tigers breezed past Houlton to the tune of 50-8. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 34 points or more this season.

Spruce Mountain's record now sits at 5-1. As for Dexter, their record is now 4-2.
