Volleyball Recap: Gilbert Classical Academy Find Success

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Gilbert Classical Academy walked away with it. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Scottsdale Christian Academy Eagles on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Gilbert Classical Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 25-21, 25-22, 25-14.

Zadok Hutchins paced Gilbert Classical Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Hutchins got some help from Jotham Demellow and his 36 assists. Demellow was also solid from the service line: he led the team with six aces.

Gilbert Classical Academy's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Scottsdale Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Coming up, Gilbert Classical Academy will head out to take on ALA - West Foothills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Guardians will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. Scottsdale Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
