Volleyball Recap: McMichael Takes a Loss

McMichael was the 3-1 winner over Southwestern Randolph when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Phoenix fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-2 on Saturday.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, McMichael sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 18-25, 25-22, 23-25, 17-15.

Leading Southwestern Randolph to victory were Calli Mooneyhan and Madilyn Baker. Mooneyhan had nine digs and two assists, while Baker had nine digs and three assists. That's the most digs Baker has posted since back in October of 2024.

McMichael's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Southwestern Randolph, their record now sits at 7-8.

Coming up, McMichael will challenge Morehead at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Phoenix surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southwestern Randolph, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Southwest Guilford on the 15th.
